There are so many great items on Frida’s menu and it’s hard to pick out one specific favorite. One dish that Frida’s owner Mark Ellman is proud of, is their Ahi Aguachile.

Mark Ellman’s new restaurant is named Frida’s Mexican Beach House inspired by the historic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo born July 6, 1907 as Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderó. I think keeping it short to Frida Kahlo worked in her favor 🙂 She was best known for her self portraits and her blue house in Mexico City. The Mexican people take great pride in her work. Few beverages hold as much mystique as tequila!
The prized Mexican pick-me-up drink bring to mind imaginations of oversized sombreros, mariachi bands, and salt-rimmed margaritas. Tequila is the most misinterpreted liquor, surrounded by years of folk tale and fables.
The weber blue agave, is the origins of how Tequila is made. The core of the plant contains aguamiel (honey water), is the sap of the Mexican maguey plant which is believed to have therapeutic qualities.
All tequila must be produced using blue agave. So in essence, Tequila is Plant-Based. In fact, Tequila is a Mezcal but mezcal is not Tequila! Confused?
